Unit 30 P6

  1. Copyright is when people make different types of media for example images software and books. People then own this media so they have right on how they want the work used and copied. Although when people want to reuse the image they would need to get permission first this is due to the fact the images could have copyright. This then stops people from copying an idea that isn't there's and using the media as their own.
  2. Copyright free is when images can be used by anyone and these images can be found on a website for example Google. This is because they are easily recognized as copyright free which could be included from the graphics software. There are some images that then are not as easy to identify as copyright free which then means that the person has to gain permission from the owner before they can use it. Generally when someone asks permission from the owner it could result in paying a sum of money for the image to be reused.
  3. On top of that when someone takes a photo of other people then he or she will need to ask them to sign a model release from which gives the photographer permission to use the images this is because some people don't find using someones else photos appropriate without their permission.

Intellectual Property is the creation of the mind, Meaning what you invent is yours for example designs and symbols. IP is protected in law this enables people to earn recognition and financial benefit from what they have created IP is protected in law by, for example, copyright and trademarks, which enable people to earn recognition or financial benefit from what they invent or create.

trade mark is a sign which can distinguish your goods and services from those of your competitors, you may refer to your trade mark as your brand. Trade marks are acceptable if they are: distinctive for the goods and services you provide.

  1. www. P6 a good effort. you have explained the legal issues and pitfalls faced by designers when they use images. Brief but it does cover the criteria.
